report was called ” ‘report”,
write was called “white”,
variable was called “viable”,
a four hour lecture with hands-on exercise was well finished only seven minutes early. Zillions of information was delivered.
what is this all about? a German technology guru.
This is the first time I have ever seen so many German “uber geeks” getting together out of Germany. It is always amazing to see how different these Germanies think, behave from the local Californians as well as we Chinese.
The lecture I attended this afternoon was made by a typical German technology guru Boris Gebhardt.
He spoke fast, coz he had to finish this lecture in merely four hours, given the tons of information in the notes. His German accent is interesting, like report was called ” ‘report”, write was called “white”, and variable was called “viable”. However it is not so hard to understand, possibly because we share the same background knowledge in the specialized area. Ironically, quite some Chinese complained they do not understand Indian’s English while Americans seem to be fine. This time I see the majority of German instrutors requested the Indians to repeat their questions over and over again. Thereafter my conclusion is Indian English is universally hard to get across to the non-English speaking nations.
Eventually this guru was able to finish his lecture seven minutes earlier. I am very impressed by this great timing. Beyond that, I found these serious Germanies are getting more and more friendly, flexbile, easy-going, and entertaining than what they were thought to be.

Last night when I met two developers I saw each one of them having two cups of bud light in hand. Oh yeah, they love beer, for sure. It seems every German attendees love San Diego which is a typical California city, sunshine, beach, hot chicks, shorts even in winter, and micro-brewed beer. I mean what else do you need? oh yeah, and cheap Levis’ in Calsbad outlet store, a place where Germanies must go for.
Though 4000+ people attended the conference, I would say it was well organized. I don’t feel any inconvenience to access the information I need. Even when there is a little glitch, like my registered information session ticket was not updated before the ticket was printed out and handed over to me, I was able to get the ticket corrected in 30 seconds, amazingly super fast.
Another thing is the exhibitors do not need to get your business card or ask you to fill out the information card/registration card any more, they simply scan your badge to acquire the attendee’s information. This is very impressive technological improvement. I am very convinced by this systematic piece of work in a German way.
